Today the USA will make history. We will either elect the first African American president, female vice-president, or independent candidate. I am very excited, and have already cast my vote. As I went into the voting booth, I could not help but take pride in my profession. Why you ask? What does ECM have to do with this historic election? Well, at least in my precinct of Massachusetts, very much. We vote on a paper form which we then feed into an electronic intelligent forms processing system. That's right, my vote is processed using document capture technology. (No hanging chits for us.) While I took some pride in this, I also got a bit nervous. We all know that intelligent forms processing can make errors. Just who set up this system, and what type of quality control is in place? My mind immediately began racing with ideas of a technology audit and process re-engineering project. Yeah, thats the ECMer in me.
Anyway - DON'T FORGET TO VOTE TODAY.
